Effective 10/20/09, we have changed our network account password complexity requirements.

These changes will be enforced the next time that you are prompted to change your password or during the creation of a new network account.

Password History

Last 5 passwords are remembered and cannot be reused.

Password Expiration

Expires after 120 days, the user will be notified at login 14 days prior to expiration. You will begin receiving emails to your Rockhurst email address in addition to a notification when attempting to login to any Rockhurst network computer.

Password Length

Must be at least 8 characters long.

Password Complexity

Passwords must contain at least one character from the following categories:

• Uppercase characters (A – Z)
• Lowercase characters (a – z)
• Numbers (0 – 9)
• The password may not contain three or more characters from the user’s first and last name.
  Example: If your name was Michael your password could not include the word Chime because C H I M and E  are in your name but could include the word Hawk because that word only has H and A from Michael.

Account Lockouts

User accounts are locked out after 5 invalid logon attempts during any 30 minute period. Employee accounts may only be unlocked by contacting Computer Services Help Desk. Student accounts can be unlocked via our Password Reset page, just be sure to check the "Unlock Only" button, unless you want to change your password as well.
