Computer Lab Policies

These policies are designed to keep the computer labs running efficiently and in a safe environment. Please follow these policies while in the computer labs.

  1. Be sure to save data to your network H: drive, disk or memory device. Data stored in temporary Internet files or other locations on the local hard drive may be deleted when you log off, when the computer is restarted, or when the system is reimaged.
  2. Food or drink is not permitted in computer labs or computerized classrooms.
  3. All activities on Rockhurst computers are monitored and violations may result in loss of network privileges
  4. During certain busy times during the day, we ask that you limit your computer use if you are not working on academic material. If there are people waiting to use the computers, please be courteous to those who need to work on school related projects.
  5. Your files are your responsibility. RUCS staff cannot be held accountable for files that do not open or print, or for disks or memory sticks that do not work. If you seek assistance from a staff member to open or work with a file, that staff member assumes no responsibility for that disk or file. You should back-up your work regularly in multiple places. Instead of saving files on a floppy disk, use a USB Memory Stick, or your H: drive.
  6. Absolutely no outside software may be copied onto the hard disk of any computer in the room.
  7. Any attempts to circumvent computer system or network security will result in loss of network privileges.
  8. When talking with other people, avoid distracting other students from their work.
  9. Access to the computers or computer-related equipment in the Rockhurst University computer labs is limited to current Rockhurst University students, faculty and staff members with valid RU identification cards. Visitors may only use the labs as part of officially sanctioned university events.
  10. Never allow another student to use your network account unsupervised.
