Rockhurst was one of ten schools nationwide to receive a grant from WISE technologies and HEWAC (Higher Education Wireless Consortium) in December 2004. The grant was worth an estimated $180,000 for equipment and installation of our wireless infrastructure. Since April 2005, students, faculty, staff and registered guests have had the ability to connect to the RUWireless network almost anywhere on campus.

Rockhurst University was recognized for its extensive wireless network when it was ranked No. 26 on Intel’s 2005 wireless college campuses list in October of that year. Rockhurst was the only institution in the region to make the nationwide list, which ranked college campuses according to wireless Internet accessibility. Rockhurst was also the only representative of the nation’s 28 Jesuit colleges and universities to earn the distinction.

The ranking serves as recognition of Computer Services mission to provide members of the Rockhurst community with the technology they need to enhance the learning experience.
