About Computer Services

The mission of Rockhurst University Computer Services is to facilitate and promote the use of information technologies in support of the academic, administrative, and community service goals of the university.

Computer Services is an integral part of how the university community works and communicate. Our offices are located on the 4th floor of Conway Hall, but our responsibilities extend to every academic hall, administrative building and residence hall on campus.

Everyone at RUCS is engaged in customer service, but the Help Desk is the first point of contact for technical assistance or services. They are available Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 7:00PM and Saturday from 8:00AM to noon by dialing "HELP" from any Rockhurst phone, or (816) 501-4357 off campus. They are also available via email at helpdesk@rockhurst.edu.

Our Help Desk is equipped to answer questions about general Rockhurst technology such as email, our telephone system, Oracleweb, WebCT, Cisco Clean Access, VPN and account issues. You can also call or email to report problems or issues with campus technologies or software.

As the IT services and support provider for the entire university, we support a wide variety of technologies including:

  • 15+ student computer labs in 10 buildings.
  • 800+ university managed student, staff and faculty systems running Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Enterprise and Mac OS X.
  • 50+ servers running a variety of operating systems including Windows Server 2000/2003/2008, VMWare ESX 3.5, Ubuntu & Fedora Linux and OpenVMS.
  • 150+ network switches and 70+ wireless access points, providing entire campus with network and Internet access.
  • 4500+ end users.
