Installing Cisco Clean Access for Windows

In order to use the Rockhurst network with your personal computer, you must download and install the Cisco Clean Access Agent. To successfully complete this task, please follow the instructions below. (These instructions apply only to Microsoft Windows users.)

  1. Remove any and all anti-virus software you may have running and all of its components. Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, AVG and Trend Micro are some of the main vendors that may be installed on your computer. Even if you have McAfee Anti-Virus Enterprise on your computer already, unless it is version 8.5, you must remove it and upgrade. Having more than one anti-virus program installed and running at the same time may damage your computer's operating system.
  2. Attempt to access the internet. To do this, physically plug your computer into an ethernet port or connect to Rockhurst's wireless network. Open up an Internet Explorer or Firefox browser window and you should immediately be redirected to the Rockhurst CCA login page.
Note - You are allowed to access Rockhurst's homepage without the Cisco Client Access Agent installed so if you have that set as your homepage, you will have to attempt to navigate to a non-Rockhurst website before you will be redirected.
  3. Log in with your Rockhurst username and password. This will be the same login credentials used to access your email or to log into the computers on campus. Be sure to select the correct provider.
Note - If you are locked out of your account or your password has expired you will not be able to log into Clean Access Agent.
  4. Download Clean Access Agent. The first step will be to download and install Cisco Clean Access Agent. Just click "Download Clean Access Agent" and then click OPEN on the download security box.
  5. Launch Clean Access Agent. Once you have successfully downloaded and installed Clean Access Agent, you must launch the program to begin accessing the network. Look carefully at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen near the time. You should now see an icon that is a green box with a key in the center. Right-click and choose LOGIN from the menu to launch the application.
  6. Login to Clean Access Agent. You must enter your network login credentials to be able to access the network.
  7. Download and Install McAfee Antivirus and perform software updates. Once you have successfully logged into the Rockhurst network, you will be given temporary access. You must now download McAfee and install the updated virus definition file. To do so, click on GO TO LINK and you will be taken to the link to install the application. Once you have downloaded and installed the necessary software, return to Clean Access Agent and click NEXT to continue.
Note - If you run into problems installing the virus definition file, try clicking on OPEN or RUN instead of saving the file to your computer.
  8. Update Windows. Cisco Clean Access Agent will detect what updates you are missing and give you a chance to install them. Press the Update button and the process will begin. This may take anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours depending on the speed of your computer and the number of updates required. You may need to reboot your computer before the updates will take affect, there may also be additional updates required after rebooting.

Now that you have installed Cisco Clean Access Agent, installed McAfee AntiVirus Enterprise, updated the virus definition file and updated your Windows operating system, you should be able to access the Rockhurst network.
