Your office and your residence hall room comes equipped with voicemail. This will allow you to receive messages from callers when you are not able to answer the telephone much like an answering machine. To set your voicemail up for the first time, following these steps:
- Call the voicemail system by dialing extension 4800, or 501-4800.
- When the system answers, press [#].
*Note- pressing [#] is a command to the system to enter your voicemail, there are other options, use [#] for voicemail actions.
- The
system operator will then ask for your mailbox number, this is usually
your 4-digit extension number. If you are a student, this will be your
box number which ends in a 1 or a 2. Students will have to complete
this step twice. Once for the room number to be used as the requested
box number and once for each of the residents using their assigned box
number. Enter your mailbox number.
*Note- pressing [#], again, is a shortcut if you are originating the call from the line the voicemail box is assigned to.
- The system operator will ask you to enter your password. As a new user, your password is 2563. Enter this as your temporary password.
- Following this, the system operator will ask you to enter a new password. Enter a 4-digit password, then press [#].
- You will then be asked to confirm your new password. Enter your password again and press [#].
- The
system operator will now ask you to record your name. Follow the
prompts to record your name. The system will play your name back to you
and allow you to save or re-record it.
*Note- Record only your name, this is not your personal greeting.
- For the last step, the system will ask you to record a personal greeting for your mailbox. Listen to, and follow, the prompts to record your greeting. The system will play your greeting back to you and allow you to save or re-record it.
