Setting up Wi-Fi for Students: 1) Connect to the correct Rockhurst Wi-Fi network (See Below): For Students, there are two different network options: If you live in Corcoran Hall, McGee Hall, XL Hall, THV, Kateri, or Rock Row, you will now connect to the Wi-Fi network called "RU Residents" You should also be able to connect all your gaming/streaming devices/internet of things to this network as well. Just connect the device and try to generate some Internet traffic so it can be properly detected and whitelisted. If you still have issues, please put in a support ticket here (https://help.rockhurst.edu) and be sure to include your name, type of device and mac address and we will whitelist it manually. On your laptop: The first time you connect, you will be prompted to login. Login using the same credentials you would use to login to when logging into the portal. If not prompted or if you are having network issues with your laptop, please open a web browser such as Google Chrome, Safari or Edge and go to http://neverssl.com and this should redirect you to the login page. Once logged in, you will have Internet connectivity. If you are in any of the other campus non-residence building, you will connect to the wireless network called “RU Wireless”. The first time you connect, you will be prompted to login. Login using the same credentials you would use to login to the portal. If you have any issues with wi-fi and were not prompted to login: Open your preferred web browser. In the address bar, type the following: neverssl.com When prompted, enter your Rockhurst username and password, and agree to the Terms and Conditions. Note: do not use a saved password, type in your username and password directly. If the page refreshes on submittal, please reset your password. Click Submit. Attempt to go to a website you have not been to in a while maybe something like https://www.cnn.com or https://www.yahoo.com etc. If you should encounter any Wi-Fi issues within any of the residence halls proceed to one of Rockhurst’s main campus buildings to attach to the main campus “RU Wireless” Wi-Fi to complete your work and also submit a service ticket by e-mailing your issue to helpdesk@rockhurst.edu or filling out a ticket. Setting up Wi-Fi for Faculty and Staff: 1) Connect to the correct Rockhurst Wi-Fi network (See Below): There are two wireless network options for Faculty and Staff to use while on campus: If you are using a university owned laptop and are in a non-residential building, you will connect to the wireless network called “RockhurstU” for HP laptops and "RUSecure" for Dell laptops and use the security key that we e-mailed you or contact the Helpdesk and confirm your identity to get the password. If you are using a personal device such as a phone, tablet or laptop and are in a non-residential building, you will connect to the wireless network called “RU Wireless” without the quotations to connect. The first time you connect with either option, you will be prompted to login using your existing network credentials. If you have any issues with wi-fi and were not prompted to login: Open your preferred web browser. In the address bar, type the following: neverssl.com When prompted, enter your Rockhurst username and password, and agree to the Terms and Conditions. Adding a Game Console to the Rockhurst University Campus Network
This guide is designed to assist students and residents within our residential buildings in connecting their game consoles to the Wi-Fi network. Please be aware that game consoles are allowed exclusively within residential areas and are not permitted in public spaces on campus. Step 1: Understanding Your Device's MAC Address To connect your game console to the Wi-Fi network, you must first identify its MAC (Media Access Control) address. A MAC address is a unique identifier for your device's network interface, specifically needed in its wireless form for Wi-Fi connections. The format of a MAC address is A1:B4:C5:C1:DD:3E, which consists of six groups of two hexadecimal digits (0-9 and A-F). Finding Your Game Console's MAC Address For detailed instructions on locating the MAC address for popular gaming consoles, please refer to this comprehensive guide. Here's a quick overview for some common consoles: PlayStation: Go to Settings > Network > View Connection Status. Xbox: Navigate to Settings > Network > Network Settings > Advanced Settings. Nintendo Switch: Access System Settings > Internet > View MAC Address. For additional guidance or for consoles not listed, the provided link offers step-by-step instructions for various gaming systems. Step 2: Submitting Your MAC Address Once you've found your MAC address, please submit it through the Rockhurst University MAC Address Form to register your device with the network. Submit your MAC Address Form here. It's important to enter the wireless MAC address of your console. If your device supports both wired and wireless connections, we require the wireless MAC address for Wi-Fi access. Step 3: Connecting to the Wi-Fi Network After submitting your MAC address, allow up to 24 business hours for the system to update. You can then connect your console to the RU Residents network via your console's Wi-Fi settings, bypassing the need for a password as your device's MAC address will serve as its authentication. Troubleshooting If you encounter any connectivity issues: Double-check the accuracy of the MAC address submitted. Restart your console and try connecting again. Ensure your console's software is up to date. For further assistance, reach out to the Rockhurst University Helpdesk.
