Network Access Requirements for computers


To connect to Rockhurst Wi-Fi, the following items are highly recommended:

  1. Up-to-date Operating System.
  2. Adequate Antivirus Software.  
    • For Windows: The recommended antivirus is Windows Defender, which comes with your machine by default.
    • For Mac: The recommended antivirus is Avast. Please note: you will need to ensure your antivirus has full disk access. For more information on setting up Avast, click here.

Setting up Wi-Fi for phones and computers


To connect to Rockhurst Wi-Fi:

  1. If you are in any of the Academic Buildings, please connect to "RU Wireless." Your device should automatically load a Rockhurst Login Page to authenticate you on our network. If not, using a web browser, please navigate to NEVERSSL.com to authenticate. You are now ready to use our wireless network in non-residential buildings. 
  2. If you are in any of the Residential Buildings, please connect to "RU Residents." Your device should automatically load a Rockhurst Login Page to authenticate you on our network. If not, using a web browser, please navigate to NEVERSSL.com to authenticate. You are now ready to use our wireless network within the residential buildings.
  3. If you are a guest or visitor to the campus, then you will connect to "RU Guest". This will require you insert your phone number for authentication.

Setting up a Wi-Fi connection for IOT devices(TVs, Amazon Echoes, Google Home, etc.) inside residential buildings

This is only for the Residential Buildings. We do not allow these devices in public spaces.

  1. Please fill out this MAC Address Form . A "MAC Address" is a physical address your devices use that are 100% unique to it. The MAC Address takes the following form, A1:B4:C5:C1:DD:3E , and can be any arrangement of numbers and the letters A-F. A lot of devices have two, one for when the device connects wirelessly and one for when it connects via wire; We need the wireless version. To find your unique MAC Address varies from device to device, most of the time being found in the settings for the device, or if a device that connects via App on your phone, inside the app. Simply search on Google for your device + "Mac address location". If you need help past that, please reach out to the Helpdesk.
